Power Section
The PT6 power section consists of a single or dual-stage turbine and shaft driving a two-stage reduction gearbox and output shaft. The gearbox is contained within, and attached to the exhaust duct. The power section also contains the T5 thermocouple bus-bar and probes, the power turbine stator(s) and containment ring.
The power section is very reliable. The most common unscheduled maintenance is the result of outside events unrelated to the operation of the engine such as a propeller striking the ground or an in-flight lightning strike.
